Professionally, Dodanim is a doctor and surgeon, with a specialty in diagnostic imaging and a subspecialty in epidemiology from the University of San Carlos de Guatemala. He currently serves as the executive medical director of two private health institutions. His Anabaptist service values and the faith modeled by his parents and brothers and sisters led him to study medicine .
He also volunteers with Mennonite churches in Guatemala, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a medical services advisor. Additionally, he volunteers as a teacher for the Casa Horeb Mennonite Church that provides free educational services to low-income people. Their mission is to support the communities of the Mennonite Church in Guatemala, to strengthen and expand the Mennonite medical clinic, and support the most vulnerable members in health.
Dodanim is also the proud father of a 6-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy. His wife is a registered nurse and physiotherapist, and is currently studying for a Master’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety. He says, “They are definitely my pillar in the effort to serve others as we strive to live the gospel, serving our neighbor in the name of Christ.”
